With the spring air warming up and patio weather just around the corner, it seems like the perfect time to start exploring what are the best Washington wines to sip while watching the sun set over the water.
Chateau Ste. Michelle is the largest winery in the state and a favourite of many local wine drinkers, and it’s a justly earned status with a number of award winners on their roster.
The winery’s Rieslings initially put Ste. Michelle on the map (the winery is the single greatest producer of Riesling in the world), but their winemakers produce a diverse range of wines, from Chardonnays and Chenin Blancs to a range of reds from all the Bordeaux varietals. And while size has built influence, that influence has been very positive for the region, with wine enthusiasts benefitting from former Ste. Michelle employees striking out to start or support other wineries in the area.
The winery is also a popular event destination with a picturesque setting (just two and a half hours from the Cottages at Seabright Farm) that makes a fantastic backdrop for an afternoon of wine tasting. The newly renovated chateau and popular (and often star-studded) summer concert series definitely makes this a stop you won’t want to miss. Or just enjoy their wines over a relaxed evening on your Seabright Farm cottage deck watching the Point Roberts sunset.
