As June comes to a close and summer gets into full swing, there is plenty to look forward to at Seabright Farm and around Point Roberts. It kicks off with the town’s annual Fourth of July celebration, featuring as usual a parade, fireworks, live entertainment and more at Breakwaters at the Marina. The event always draws locals and visitors from both sides of the border and is the just the first event in a summer full of warm weather activities.
For those looking to stay active outdoors, the annual Jog for the Bog, held this year on July 21st, is a great chance to stretch your legs and raise awareness about the protection of our local Burns Bog ecosystem. At any time you can jump into a kayak to explore our shoreline from the water or, if you’re hoping to stay a bit closer to home, Seabright’s outdoor playfields and swimming pool are open for the season and ready for our residents to enjoy!
If market-hopping is more your speed, a quick trip across the border will bring you to a number of options, with handcrafted goods, locally grown produce and more. The always popular Richmond Night Market is open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening throughout the summer, offering a wide array of delicious foods, games and entertainment. The Ladner Village Market in Delta will also be open July 11th, and the Tsawwassen Farmers’ Market is just next door every Saturday.
Of course, you don’t really need to go far to enjoy the outdoors in Point Roberts. The long days and summer evenings are the perfect time to take advantage of the al fresco meeting spaces and recreational areas at Seabright Farm, or to simply relax on a cottage porch. Whatever your preference, you can find it here!
